Fifty TwoMaybe Mallarmé was right: the world does exist in order to end up as a book. So much of my work has been about the exotic, the fabulous, and the remote. As a project for the year after my fifty-second birthday, I made a book a week about the events and thoughts of each week. The title of each book is linked to the print-on-demand site at Lulu.com, where you can see a short preview of each book. This project was inspired by the work of two other artists in particular: Skuta Helgason's book-a-week project and Jonas Mekas' project to make a video every day during 2007. |
